[DVD+RW/+R for Linux]  - This site is not about video. The scope of this page is computer storage applications, things like backup, archiving, data exchange... .
[bzip2]  - bzip2 is a freely available, patent free, high-quality data compressor. It typically compresses files to within 10% to 15% of the best available techniques (the PPM family of statistical compressors), whilst being around twice as fast at compression and six times faster at decompression.
[gzip]  - gzip (GNU zip) is a compression utility designed to be a replacement for compress. Its main advantages over compress are much better compression and freedom from patented algorithms.

[rsync]  - is a file transfer program for Unix systems. rsync uses the "rsync algorithm" which provides a very fast method for bringing remote files into sync. It does this by sending just the differences in the files across the link, without requiring that both sets of files are present at one of the ends of the link beforehand.
[Storix Backup Administrator]  - (SBA) is a graphical interface for administration of various types of backups of AIX and Linux systems. SBA was designed not only to backup data files to a network server, but to also provide the ability to reinstall a complete system from scratch while providing the flexibility needed to restore the backup onto a different hardware environment.
[Bacula]  - is a set of computer programs to manage backup, recovery, and verification of computer data across a network of computers of different kinds.
[Partition Image]  - is a Linux/UNIX utility which saves partitions in many formats (ReiserFS, ext2fs/ext3fs, JFS, XFS, HPFS, UFS, HFS, NTFS, FAT16/32) to an image file.
